Medlar (Mespilus)
£184.00*
The Medlar has been in cultivation since early times, having been grown in the Emperor Charlemagne's garden. The small brown fruits are only edible when 'bletted' or left to be very ripe. It has large hairy leaves which turn a russet brown in autumn and large, white flowers that are profusely borne in May and June. A lovely tree that provides a real cottage garden feeling.
Species available: Mespilus germanica.
