Trees for a Purpose
Trees are mostly sold under the wrong premise. Instead of picking a tree for its initial attraction, one should firstly consider whether the physiology of the tree matches the planting site and what desired effect it has to live up to.
With over 25 years of tree growing experience we have devised this site to match your requirements to a species that will thrive in your garden. So, instead of a traditional A-Z listing of Latin tree names that are hard enough to pronounce let alone make an informed choice from, we have come up with our ‘Trees for a Purpose’ that we hope makes it easier for you to make the right selection.
Trees to suit your needs
- Is space a prohibiting factor, for example, are there any buildings in close proximity? See Garden Trees.
- Is the site exposed, subject to extreme weather conditions or close to the coast? See Coastal Sites.
- Is the area predominately wet? See Wet Soils.
- Or maybe the opposite, very dry, See Dry Soils.
- What is the soil like? Is it predominantly Clay Soils, or does it exhibit Extremes in PH, acid or alkaline.
Think about the impact that the trees are to have upon the area to be planted:
- If the desired effect is to create an avenue that will provide long lasting, impressive results then see Avenue Trees.
- Perhaps Autumn Colour an important feature.
- Do the trees need to be Evergreen Trees? Or do they simply need to provide all year round interest? For example provide Bark Interest; Edible Fruits or even Edible Nuts!
- Do the trees need to provide a screen? See Evergreen Trees, Hedging Trees or Privacy Raised Screening
- Are they to fit in with an existing native theme? Take a look at Native Trees
Trees are to be enjoyed but of course making the right choice will also ensure another environmental asset is doing its job for many years to come for the benefit of all.
All the Trees for a Purpose can be found on the Our Trees page, we hope you enjoy looking through them and find what you are looking for, if not then please feel free to contact us.
